Prep Report: Overtime win at Hauser gets Southwestern MHC soccer championship

Class A, No. 15 Southwestern got a goal from Josh Karr midway through the first overtime period Tuesday to secure a 1-0 victory at Hauser.

The win improved the Spartans to 11-3-1 overall and clinched the Mid-Hoosier Conference championship with a 4-0 mark.

The Spartans and Jets (9-5-1, 1-3 MHC) have played two overtime matches in the last two weeks – Southwestern won 3-0 in overtime on Sept. 19 – and will meet again Monday in the sectional hosted by Southwestern.

Boys soccer

Morristown 6, Knightstown 0

At Morristown, Owen Rinzel scored four goals to lead the Yellow Jackets over the Panthers (1-9-3).

Also scoring for Morristown (4-7-2) were Jonathan Camacho and Caydon Coombs.

Pendleton Heights 10, Shelbyville 1

At Pendleton Heights, Jordan Wilson and Dylan John each scored two goals to get the Arabians no worse than a share of the Hoosier Heritage Conference championship.

Pendleton Heights improved to 9-5-1 (6-0 HHC) with five goals scored in each half against the Golden Bears.

Alex Norman scored Shelbyville’s lone goal off an assist from Hudson Rice.

The Golden Bears finished the regular season at 6-10 (2-5 HHC).

Girls soccer

Triton Central 3, University 1

At Triton Central, Ariel Walker and Rylee Pruitt each scored goals for the Tigers in their regular-season finale.

Cheyenne Allen was credited with four saves to improve Triton Central to 10-4-2.

University dropped to 9-6.

Volleyball

Shelbyville def. Pendleton Heights, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19

At Shelbyville, senior Alivia Lee recorded 20 kills to lead the Golden Bears to the HHC victory.

Jordyn Noe and Lyla Wilson each had seven kills. Sydney Haehl finished with a team-high 21 digs and Addy Marshall collected 28 assists.

Pendleton Heights dropped to 13-15 (0-6 HHC).

Shelbyville improved to 10-14 (1-4 HHC) and is at Mt. Vernon (15-7, 4-1 HHC) Thursday.

Triton Central def. Rushville, 25-20, 25-15, 16-25, 25-5

At Rushville, Gwyn Williams led the victorious Tigers with 13 kills and five service aces.

Alaina Darlage finished with 20 digs and Maryrose Felling earned 23 assists.

Triton Central improved to 14-7 and is at New Palestine (18-3) tonight.
