
Reece Prickett hit a solo home run in the second inning and the Golden Bears added three more runs in the sixth to defeat Greenfield-Central, 4-2.
Shelbyville (15-7, 8-5 Hoosier Heritage Conference) has won seven straight games as well as seven consecutive HHC contests. The Golden Bears and Cougars (12-12, 8-5 HHC) are now tied for third place in the conference standings, just behind Mt. Vernon (13-7, 8-4 HHC).
Aiden Smith, a University of Kentucky recruit, earned the win with six strong innings on the mound. The junior allowed six hits and struck out eight. He also collected career strikeout No. 200 in the win.
Prickett pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.
Parker Rhodes took the loss for Greenfield-Central. He allowed three hits and three runs while striking out 10.
Prickett, Gavin Reed and Gavyn Fisher each drove in runs for the Golden Bears.
Greenfield-Central travels to Barnett Field in Shelbyville today for one final HHC game.
The Golden Bears close out their regular-season schedule Saturday at Seymour (16-6).
Shelbyville’s junior varsity defeated Triton Central, 26-1 Wednesday. Kellen Linville had a double and a home run while driving in seven runs to lead Shelbyville (8-9).

Triton Central defeated Morristown, 5-0.
Maryrose Felling defeated Katie Theobald at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Anniston Evans secured a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bri Flores at No. 2 singles.
Ellie Gast completed the singles matches sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Addie Osborne.
Kate Collier and Neve Kahler blanked Zoey Coons and Emma Bowyer at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.
And Estelle Gearlds and Caydence Stout defeated Maile Vitz and Emma Wagoner, 6-0, 6-1.
Shelbyville defeated Southwestern, 4-1. The Golden Bears swept the singles matches and added a win at No. 2 doubles.
Southwestern’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Tanna Tatlock and Tori Burkhart defeated Megan Childres and Ava Van Wye. With the win, the Spartans advanced into the state doubles tournament that will start next week at Center Grove High School.
Shelbyville’s Kylie Stader and Abigail Huntsman won at No. 2 doubles against Callie Beck and Hayden Ramey, 6-3, 6-2.
At No. 1 singles, Ava Muckerheide bested Aurora Belton, 6-1, 6-2.
Sophia Asher topped Kelsie Stringer at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
And Corinne Aldridge defeated Mallory McInerny, 6-1, 6-0.
The Tigers and Golden Bears played on April 14 in Fairland where Triton Central prevailed 3-2.
The sectional champion advances to the Center Grove Regional next week.

Shelbyville 174, Whiteland 184
At Blue Bear Golf Course in Shelbyville, Logan Reinhart topped the Golden Bears’ scorecard in the win over the Warriors.
Reinhart, who shot 41, was co-medalist with Whiteland’s Will Smith.
Also playing for Shelbyville were Brock Wischmeyer (43), Kameron Holland (44) and Kason Travnicek (46).
Grayson Hall followed Smith on the Whiteland scorecard with a 45. Brady Dittmer (47) and Kaegan Bigler (51) completed the Warriors’ team score.
