Prep Report: Claxton places 12th at diving regional

Shelbyville diver Chloe Claxton finished 12th Tuesday at the Plainfield Regional to bring an end to her season.

The top eight finishers at each of four regionals around the state Tuesday advanced to the IHSAA State Finals Friday and Saturday at the Indiana University Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis.

North Central’s Adelyn Flessner won the Plainfield Regional with 546 points. Park Tudor’s Zara Hall was runner-up with 460.95 points.

Seeger’s Isabelle Hubner secured the final advancing position at eighth with 381.05.

Claxton totaled 313.15 points over her 11 dives.

Boys basketball

Triton Central 62, Indian Creek 47

At Triton Central, Eli Sego hit seven three-pointers and scored 29 points to improve Class 2A, No. 8 Triton Central to 15-3 (2-0 Hoosier Legends Conference).

Triton Central led 15-13 after one quarter then outscored the Braves 21-9 in the second quarter to take a 36-22 halftime advantage. Sego scored all 15 of Triton Central’s points in the third quarter as the lead grew to 51-33.

Brayden Hoover scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter. Henry Kemper had seven points.

Three Indian Creek players scored in double digits led by Carter Cooley’s 16 points. Alex Morse and Jaxon Green each finished with 10.

Indian Creek has lost eight straight to fall to 3-14 (0-4 HLC) this season.

Triton Central hosts Greensburg (8-10) Friday.

Morristown 75, Brown County 49

At Morristown, the host Yellow Jackets poured in 45 points in the second and third quarters to pull away from future Mid-Hoosier Conference foe Brown County.

Kellen Crim hit eight 3s and finished with a game-high 35 points. Owen Rinzel, Brody Smith and Jake Miesse each scored 10 to get Morristown to 13-5 this season.

Aiden Lee led Brown County (5-13) with 13 points.

Morristown (3-2 MHC) is at Southwestern (4-11, 0-4 MHC) Friday.

Waldron 52, Mooresville Christian 24

At Mooresville Christian, Eli Stewart scored all 18 of his points in the first half then Caige Sheaffer scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half to improve the Mohawks to 11-7 this season.

Waldron raced out to a 20-6 lead after one quarter and never trailed again.

Harrison Carney led Mooresville Christian (7-10) with nine points.

The Mohawks (2-3 MHC) host their final home game of the season Friday against South Decatur (12-4, 3-2 MHC).
