Prep Report: Burnett's overtime goal produces HLC win for Triton Central soccer

Maddie Burnett’s third goal of the game, in the second overtime session, netted Triton Central a 3-2 victory Wednesday over Beech Grove.

Burnett’s first goal came in the first half to get the Tigers (3-2, 2-0 Hoosier Legends Conference) a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Hornets (3-2, 1-1 HLC) scored twice in the second half but Burnett’s second goal insured the conference contest went to overtime.

Neither team scored in the opening overtime session.

Triton Central hosts Shelbyville (2-1, 1-0 HLC) Monday.

Girls golf

Eastern Hancock 201, Shelbyville 203, Pendleton Heights 216

Shelbyville’s Julie Garrison was the medalist with the low round of 45. Hana Stenger followed four shots back at 49.

Sophia Bragg (53) and Harper Adams (56) completed the Shelbyville scorecard.

Boys tennis

Triton Central 5, Beech Grove 0

At Triton Central, the host Tigers dominated the singles matches, dropping just three games total.

Brayden Hoover, Bradyn Robinson and Drayton Kermode made quick work of their HLC opponents.

At No. 1 doubles, Colton Ayres and Graham Gast needed three sets to defeat Ethan Corbett and Ismael Correto, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Owen Rice and Cash Eck produced a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.

Triton Central improved to 5-1.

Volleyball

Shelbyville def. Connersville, 25-15, 25-14, 25-22

At Shelbyville, Jordyn Noe finished with a team-high 11 kills to improve the Golden Bears to 3-1 this season.

Lyla Wilson added eight kills and Annabelle Bringle collected six kills and four service aces.

Shelbyville hosts Southwestern tonight.

Triton Central def. North Decatur, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13

At North Decatur, Lucy May and Addison Gibbs combined for 22 kills to lead the Tigers (6-3) to the road victory.

May finished with 13 kills and one ace.

Alaina Darlage had a team-high 10 digs while Anna Kemper collected 23 assists.

Miley Scudder topped the Chargers (4-5) with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Triton Central is at Monrovia (1-4) Tuesday.
