Pre Report: Crouse leads Triton Central golf to win over Crusaders

Max Crouse was the only golfer to break 40 Wednesday at The Links in New Palestine to lead Triton Central to a 166-192 win over Indianapolis Scecina.

Crouse fired a 3-over-par 39 to earn the medalist honor. 

Chase Chandler finished one stroke behind at 40 and Derreck Uhls shot 41. Colton Ayres completed the scorecard with a 46.

Nate Wilhelm led the Crusaders with a 45.

Triton Central 11, Speedway 0

At Speedway, three Triton Central pitchers combined to limit the Sparkplugs to three hits and two walks to complete the Indiana Crossroads Conference two-game series sweep.

Hayden Beaver earned the win with four shutout innings. Janssen Capps and Kaleb Murphy completed the shutout that improved the Class 2A, No. 8 Tigers to 4-2 (4-0 ICC).

Bradley Howard (5.2 innings, 7 hits, 9 runs) took the loss for Speedway (1-5-1, 0-4 ICC).

Triton Central will host Eastern Hancock (1-2) Saturday for a doubleheader.

Mt. Vernon 6, Shelbyville 5, 8 inn.

At Barnett Field in Shelbyville, the host Golden Bears scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull even with the Marauders but did not score again.

Mt. Vernon scored in the top of the eighth inning then shut down the Golden Bears to complete the Hoosier Heritage Conference sweep.

Drew Morgan pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed one hit and no runs to earn the win.

Ryker Baer, Gage Blanchard, Bryndan Wylie and Ben Schaeffer each had two hits for Mt. Vernon (4-2, 4-0 HHC). Blanchard drove in two runs.

Wes Bailey, Reece Prickett, Aiden Smith and Dalton Jones had two hits apiece for Shelbyville (3-3, 1-3 HHC).

Jones pitched the first four innings before Prickett took over to pitch the final four innings.

Shelbyville hosts Speedway Friday and Indian Creek (3-3) Saturday.
