Manchester University fifth-year senior Enrique Salazar set a new school record and took first place in a field of 294 runners Saturday at the Gil Dodds Invitational hosted by Wheaton College (Illinois).
Salazar, a Plymouth graduate, finished the race in first place with a time of 24 minutes, 18 seconds.
Senior Connor Havens, of LaPorte, tied the previous school record of 24:47 and finished seventh.
Gavin Byerly, a Huntington North graduate, finished third among the Spartans with an overall finish of 56th place with a time of 26:18. Brenden Oden, of New Prairie, finished fourth for Manchester in 27:05.
Manchester men's cross country took seventh place overall out of 18 teams.
The Spartans travel to Louisville, Kentucky, on Sept. 30 to compete in the Live in Lou Classic.
