Two familiar foes will face each other in the opening round of the IHSAA Girls Sectional Tournament, as North Vermillion rolls out the red carpet for rival Riverton Parke.
The two teams will meet at 6 p.m. on Feb. 4 with the winner advancing to play Central Catholic (9-13) and Faith Christian (12-7) on Feb. 6 at 7:30 at North Vermillion.
The Falcons of North Vermillion (12-10) enter the final week of the regular season on a seven game winning streak, as Wade Statzler's team has not lost in 2026. North Vermillion held off Riverton Parke, 30-23, on Jan. 8.
As for the Panthers of Riverton Parke (12-9), Jared Garman's team has enjoyed mixed results recently, winning three of their last five games. Riverton Parke enters the final week of the regular season with two straight wins over North Central (Farmersburg) and South Vermillion.
The top half of the bracket features Covington (4-19) taking on Attica (5-16) with the winner advancing to play Fountain Central (18-2).
