Morristown, Waldron win Shelby County Track and Field championships

Morristown racked up 100 points to outdistance the field and win the Shelby County Girls Track and Field championship Tuesday at Waldron.

With four wins from Will Larrison, Waldron edged Triton Central, 70-69 to capture the boys Shelby County title.

The Waldron senior took first place in the 800 meters (1:59.55), 1,600 (5:02.36) and 3,200 (11:36.72) and was part of Waldron’s 1,600 relay team that closed out the track portion of the event with a win.

Jared Crosby, Lucas Shaw, Tad Crosby and Larrison crossed the finish line first in 3:34.69.

Waldron’s only other event win came from Luke Meyers in the discus (122 feet).

Morristown finished third, just seven points behind the Mohawks.

Event winners for the Yellow Jackets were Colston Allford (6-0 in high jump) and Arik Trattner in the long jump (18-11.5).

Morristown’s Lakshdeep Singh, Matthew Morrison, Levi Stoddard and Ryan Crisman won the 3,200 relay in 11:22.48.

Triton Central had the most event winners with Zeke Robertson and Cash Compton winning two events each.

Robertson scored first-place points in the 110 hurdles (15.45) and 300 hurdles (41.46). Compton won both sprint races – the 100 in 11.38 and the 200 in 23.27.

Also for Triton Central, Landon Slone won the 400 in 52.42 and Willie Baugh took first in the shot put (51-7).

Baugh ran with Compton, Slone and Robertson in winning the 400 relay (45.03).

Morristown won seven events in the girls meet.

Brooklyn Carlton was a double winner in the 300 hurdles (53.96) and the high jump (5-0).

Other event winners were Audrey VanDyke (14:08 in 3,200), Nevaeh Cox (1:05.32 in 400), Grace McLaughlin (6:25 in 1,600) and Sawyer Rogers (16.52 in 100 hurdles).

McLaughlin, VanDyke, Cox and Brooke Kuhn won the 3,200 relay in 11:34.32.

Triton Central was runner-up in the team standings with 71 points.

Layla Compton won three events -- 13-8.25 in long jump, 29.04 in 200, and 13.59 in 100. She also ran with Farah Coen, Lydia Hough and Aubrie Propp to win the 400 relay in 55.61.

Brooklyn Milbourn was a double event winner for Waldron. She won the discus (97-11) and the shot put (33-6.25).

Riley Price took first in the 800 (2:35.99).
