The Lawrenceville football Indians are still winless in 2026.

They jumped out to an early lead Saturday over the visiting Marshall Lions in the annual Homecoming game at Ed Loeb Field, but the visitors responded by scoring 60 unanswered points to hand the Tribe a 60-8 loss.

The Indians used a razzle-dazzle reverse touchdown pass from Isaac Vennard to wide receiver Ethan Metz on the very first play of the game and added the 2-point conversion to lead 8-0, but things went downhill quickly from there.

Marshall tied the score at 6:19 of the first quarter on a short TD run by quarterback Luke Brodie and then took the lead for good on another short Brodie run to lead 14-8 after one quarter. The Lions added four more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 41-8 at the half. They tacked on two more scores in the third to lead 54-8 after three quarters and a single score in the fourth quarter to close out the lopsided 60-8 victory.

Marshall ran for over 380 yards on the ground to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the Little Illini Conference (LIC) while the Indians had 236 yards of total offense and fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the LIC.

The Indians make their final road trip of the regular season on Friday, October 9th when they travel to Newton to meet the Eagles.
