The Parkview 8th grade Lady volleyball Braves came up three wins short of their goal to win the Class 8-3A Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State championship.
They were eliminated from contention in the quarterfinals Friday at Pana High School by Staunton in two straight games 23-23, 16-25. It was the first loss of the year for the squad, which finished with an outstanding record of 24-1 and a regional and sectional title.
Staunton went on to finish second to Monticello in the title match 19-25, 13-25. Quincy St. Peter won the third-place match over Downs Tri-Valley 23-25,25-16, 25-20.
