The Lawrenceville Basketball Indians got back on the winning track Friday night as they beat the Casey-Westfield Warriors 58-44 to capture third place in the 2024 Little Illini Conference tournament at Newton. Casey led 18-16 after one quarter and 25-24 at the half before the Indian trapping zone began to take it's toll in the third quarter with the Tribe taking a 35-31 lead after three and then gradually pulled away for the victory. The 18-3 Indians were paced by Bryant Jenkins with 29 points with Maddux Pargin adding 10. Richland County (Olney) won the LIC tournament title with a 47-39 win over host Newton. The Indians next see action Tuesday at home when they host Cisne in a non-conference affair.
