
The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the pairings for the 54th Annual Volleyball State Tournament Sunday.
A total of 400 teams will compete for four state championship trophies next month at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
Sectional tournaments begin on Oct. 14 with sectional champions crowned four days later on Oct. 18.
Regional champions will be crowned Oct. 25 while Semistate championship matches follow on Nov. 1.
State championship matches being held for the first time at the home of the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever are set for No. 8.
Shelbyville Sectional
William L. Garrett Gymnasium is the host site for a 7-team sectional that includes the defending Class 3A state champion Roncalli Royals.
Rushville (10-12) opens the sectional against Roncalli (23-4). The winner advances to face Indian Creek (14-7) in one semifinal match.
In quarterfinal matches, Beech Grove (2-23) battles New Palestine (24-3) while the host Golden Bears (10-15) take on Greenwood (10-17).
The winners of those two matches also meet in the semifinal round.
Shelbyville defeated Greenwood, 26-24, 25-20, 20-25, 25-19 on Sept. 4. The Golden Bears host New Palestine Tuesday.
Eastern Hancock Sectional
Triton Central drew the host Royals in match No. 2 at the 7-team Class 2A sectional.
In the opener, Heritage Christian (17-7) faces KIPP Indy Legacy with the winner battling Christel House (11-7) in the semifinal round.
Triton Central (15-8) will face Eastern Hancock (23-6). The two teams are scheduled to play tonight in Fairland.
In the final quarterfinal match, Irvington Prep (10-11) takes on Indianapolis Scecina (9-16).
Morristown Sectional
Seven teams travel to Morristown for a Class A sectional.
In the first two quarterfinal matches, Edinburgh (3-17) opens against South Decatur (12-13) and Tri (9-13) faces Southwestern (4-17).
The second round of quarterfinal matches pits Waldron (7-17) against North Decatur (12-15) and Knightstown (11-12) against the host Yellow Jackets (11-13).
Regionals
The eight southern Indiana regional host sites are Greenfield-Central, Cascade, Monrovia, Bloomington North, Loogootee, Mitchell, Morristown and Charlestown.
The Shelbyville Sectional winner will face the Indianapolis Cathedral Sectional winner at a regional site to be determined.
The Eastern Hancock Sectional champ will battle the Hagerstown Sectional champ at the regional.
The Morristown Sectional champion will meet the Hauser Sectional champion at the regional.
Semistates
The southern Indiana semistate hosts are Martinsville, Bedford North Lawrence, Jasper and Jennings County.
