
The Indiana High School Athletic Association delivered the sectional pairings Sunday for the Girls Softball State Tournament that begins May 26.
A total of 368 teams will compete for four state championships June 13-14 at Purdue University’s Bittinger Stadium in West Lafayette.
Class 3A, Sectional 28
The top two ranked teams in Class 3A are in Sectional 28 on the opposite sides of the 7-team bracket.
Class 3A, No. 1 New Palestine (13-1) is the host school and will open the sectional in the first game against Beech Grove (8-9-1). The winner advances to a semifinal game against Greenwood (4-12).
Shelbyville (12-7) will face a familiar foe in Indian Creek (9-2) in its sectional quarterfinal round contest. The Golden Bears and Braves met in a preseason scrimmage in late March and will play in Trafalgar on May 15.
In the other quarterfinal game, Class 3A, No. 2 Roncalli (14-2) takes on Rushville (4-9).
The Shelbyville-Indian Creek winner will meet the Roncalli-Rushville winner in the semifinal round.
The New Palestine Sectional champion will play at the winner of the Edgewood Sectional in a one-game regional championship on June 3. The Edgewood Sectional also features a pair of top 10-ranked teams in Cascade, the defending Class 2A state champs, and Edgewood.

Class 2A, Sectional 43
Triton Central will be the favorite in the 6-team sectional field but Eastern Hancock, the host school, will not go quietly if the two teams meet again.
The host Royals (8-6) will open the sectional against Christel House (8-3), with the winner facing Irvington Prep (3-5) in the semifinal round.
Triton Central (11-2) drew Indiana Crossroads Conference foe Indianapolis Scecina (2-9) in its sectional opener. The winner advances to face Heritage Christian (5-8) in the semifinals.
Triton Central is 4-0 against the sectional field, outscoring Eastern Hancock, Heritage Christian, Scecina and Irvington Prep 52-3 in the process.
The Tigers defeated Eastern Hancock, 5-2 on April 14.
The Eastern Hancock Sectional champion will host the Centerville Sectional champion in the regional championship on June 3.
Class A, Sectional 59
Waldron and Morristown will open Sectional 59, hosted by Class A, No. 1 Tri.
The Mohawks (0-4) and the Yellow Jackets (4-6) have not yet met this season. They are scheduled to play May 15-16 in Mid-Hoosier Conference contests.
The winner of the sectional opener advances to take on South Decatur (3-7), who received the bye in the 7-team sectional.
In the other quarterfinal games, Edinburgh (8-8) takes on Knightstown (7-7) while North Decatur (4-7) drew the top-ranked Titans (12-3). The winners return for a semifinal game.
The Tri Sectional champion hosts the Rising Sun Sectional champion in a regional championship match on June 3.
