IHSAA announces sectional sites for winter sports season

The Indiana High School Athletic Association held an Executive Committee meeting Aug. 26 in Indianapolis and approved three new schools for a three-year provisional membership.

Those approved were Rooted School Indianapolis, Believe Circle City (Indianapolis) and St. Thomas More Academy in South Bend.

Three more schools are on track for postseason tournament eligibility in 2026-27. They are GEO Next Generation (Indianapolis), Mooresville Christian, and Seven Oaks Classical (Ellettsville).

The Executive Committee also approved the sectional sites for the winter sports season.

After hosting its first appearance in a Class 3A boys basketball sectional in several years, Shelbyville will travel to Greenwood for the 2026 sectional.

Greenwood will host 3A, Sectional 28 which also features, Beech Grove, Indian Creek, New Palestine, Roncalli and Rushville.

Triton Central will travel to Charlottesville for Class 2A, Sectional 43 hosted by Eastern Hancock. Also in the sectional are Christel House, Heritage Christian, Indianapolis Scecina, Irvington Prep and KIPP Indy Legacy.

Class A, Sectional 59 is an 8-team sectional that will be hosted by Tri. Morristown, Southwestern and Waldron are part of the field that also includes Edinburgh, Knightstown, North Decatur and South Decatur.

Regional hosts in southern Indiana in 2026 are Southport, Seymour, Greencastle, Washington, Greenfield-Central, Southridge, Martinsville and Charlestown.

Semistate sites in the south are New Castle, Southport, Seymour and Washington.

Rushville is the host site for the Class 3A, Sectional 28 girls basketball sectional. Shelbyville and Rushville will battle Beech Grove, Greenwood, Indian Creek, New Palestine and Roncalli for the sectional title.

Shelbyville’s William L. Garrett Gymnasium will be a regional tournament host site on Feb. 14.

Class 2A, Sectional 43 will be hosted by Christel House. Triton Central will join Eastern Hancock, Heritage Christian, Indianapolis Scecina and Irvington Prep for the Indianapolis sectional.

Waldron will host Class A, Sectional 59 that also features Morristown and Southwestern. Also assigned to the sectional are Edinburgh, Knightstown, North Decatur, South Decatur and Tri.

The southern Indiana regional host sites are Greenfield-Central, Bedford North Lawrence, Greencastle, Charlestown, Terre Haute North, Boonville, Shelbyville and Jasper.

Semistate sites in the south are Southport, Greencastle, Jasper and Jennings County.

Shelbyville’s swimming and diving team will again compete at the New Palestine sectionals with Centerville, Connersville, Eastern Hancock, Greenfield-Central, Hagerstown, Mt. Vernon, New Castle, New Palestine, Richmond and Seton Catholic.

Jan. 2 is the date for girls wrestling sectionals around the state. Triton Central is assigned to the Perry Meridian Sectional. Shelbyville will compete at the Indian Creek Sectional.

Boys wrestling sectionals are Jan.31. Both Shelbyville and Triton Central are in a 9-team sectional that has not yet been assigned a host site. Also in the sectional are Beech Grove, Franklin Central, Indianapolis Lutheran, Perry Meridian, Roncalli, Southport and Warren Central.

Sectional host sites for gymnastics were not released.
