Golf season ends for Triton Central and Morristown

Golfers from Triton Central and Morristown did not advance out of Tuesday’s Greenfield-Central Sectional at Hawk’s Tail of Greenfield.

Mt. Vernon won the sectional championship with a 315. Also advancing to the regional round Thursday at The Players Club for the Muncie Central Regional were New Palestine (320) and New Castle (325), who earned the spot based on the fifth player’s score after tying Tri (325).

Greenfield-Central (330) finished fifth with Eastern Hancock (332), Triton Central (343), Shenandoah (344), Knightstown (390), Blue River Valley (407) and Morristown (412) completing the field.

The top three individual scores not on an advancing team also qualified for the Muncie Central Regional. They were Greenfield-Central’s Avery Young (73) and Eastern Hancock’s Parker Atkins (74) and Zach Stephens (74).

Young was crowned sectional champion with the lowest round of the tournament.

Chase Chandler topped Triton Central’s scorecard with an 81. Also competing were Max Crouse (84), Derreck Uhls (89), Colton Ayres (89) and Taggy Goul (98).

Eli Graves led Morristown with a 90. Also on the Yellow Jackets’ scorecard were Kellen Crim (100), Ethan Tryon (104), Michael Ballinger (118) and Kilyn Gaines (126).

 

 

Providence Regional

Shelbyville is one of 15 teams competing Thursday at the Providence Regional at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville.

The field also includes Center Grove, Franklin, Greenwood, Northeastern, Hagerstown, Connersville, Batesville, Columbus North, Madison, Scottsburg, Southwestern (Hanover), Floyd Central, Corydon Central and Providence.

The top three teams and the top three individual scorers not on an advancing team qualify for the IHSAA State Finals on June 17-18 at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
