It’s been another outstanding season for the Randy Klopp Stable. The team worked to bring in 66 wins on the season including six from Cupid’s Runaway, who was named Horse of the Meet for the second straight season at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
Cupid’s Runaway, now seven, scored seven wins last season to equal the record held by Longleggedlaverne from 2023 for most wins in one season by a horse. Combined with his six wins this season, he now has 14 career wins total at the track, becoming the top horse for wins in track history.
“He (Cupid’s Runaway) is a real hard knocking horse that always gives you everything he has,” said Klopp. “If he gets beat, it is usually a trainer or jock mistake. He has been a pleasure to have in the barn.”
Cupid’s Runaway now has 14 wins from 18 career starts, all at Horseshoe Indianapolis. He has earned more than $200,000 for his owner, Reese Ranch, who also bred him. The Indiana bred five-year-old is by Cupid, 2016 winner of the Grade 3 Indiana Derby.
In addition to Cupid’s Runaway, the Klopp Stable had several horses who excelled during the season, including Mondavila, Latigo, and Sleepy, who won his fifth race of the season on closing day. Overall, Klopp is now the all-time leading trainer in track history with 602 wins.

“I couldn’t do this without all the people and more in this winner’s circle right now,” added Klopp. “Everyone is part of this including the owners, breeders, and help in the barn. If you don’t have a good team, then you can’t get this done. Everyone works very hard all year long to get this title.”
It was the second straight year for Klopp to take home the Leading Trainer title and his fourth altogether at Horseshoe Indianapolis. He has also teamed up with Roger Spiess to win four leading owner titles in the past five years.

Klopp and his wife, Liz, who operates all the pony horses at the track, have a farm in nearby Rushville, Ind. They stable year-round at Horseshoe Indianapolis and have invested heavily into the Indiana breeding program.
Several of their stars from recent years are now brood mares and producing winners, including Turbo Lady who won the day before from Klopp’s standout race mare Joyous Lady, who they also bred and raised into a multiple stakes winner in Indiana.
Personally, Klopp is also closing in on his first major milestone. He exits the 2025 season with a total of 958 wins as he closes in on 1,000 career training victories.
