Collegiate Update: Nelson playing key role in Marian Ancilla's 6-1 start

Emma Nelson helped Marian Ancilla secure a pair of wins over Montcalm Community College and Danville Area Community College.

Nelson, a Morristown graduate, had two points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block Wednesday in a 79-49 win over Montcalm.

On Saturday, Marian Ancilla improved to 6-1 with a 71-55 win over Danville. Nelson finished with four points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

Bella Larrison

The Waldron graduate collected 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block Saturday in Anderson’s 91-88 double overtime loss at Berea (Ky.).

On Wednesday, Larrison produced a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) in the Ravens’ 78-67 loss at Franklin College.

Anderson is 2-5 this season (0-2 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference).

Tenleigh Phelps and Lizzie Graham

The Triton Central duo combined for 20 points Thursday in IU South Bend’s 93-45 win over Great Lakes Christian College.

Phelps (top photo) finished with 13 points, two rebounds and three assists. Graham (bottom photo) had seven points, two rebounds and one assist.

On Saturday, Olivet Nazarene defeated the Titans, 91-84. Phelps finished with 18 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.

IU South Bend is 6-4 (3-2 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference).

Olivia Faust

The Triton Central graduate scored 13 points Saturday for Marian in an 81-47 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The win improved the Knights to 10-0 (4-0 Crossroads League).

On Wednesday, Faust scored a team-high 15 points in Marian’s 91-45 win over Goshen College.

Marian has seven wins this season by at least 30 points.

Brooklyn Bailey

The Triton Central graduate helped Kaskaskia College go 2-1 last week.

On Wednesday, Bailey finished with four points, nine rebounds, one assist and three blocks in Kaskaskia’s 59-44 win at Shawnee Community College.

Bailey notched seven points, five rebounds and three assists Thursday in a 63-45 win over St. Louis Community College.

On Saturday, Olney Central College defeated Kaskaskia, 72-59. Bailey had 12 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Kaskaskia is 4-6 this season.

Hadyn Ball

The Triton Central graduate finished 1-2 for Wabash Saturday at the Indiana Little State Tournament at Manchester University.

Ball, competing at 197 pounds, lost his opening match to Manchester’s Cameron Crisp, 7-1.

Bell then defeated Thomas More’s Wade Mettling, 4-1, before suffering a 16-3 loss to Trine’s Jacob Saylor.

Ethan Lambert

The Shelbyville graduate placed 12th in both the shot put and weight throw events Saturday in Indianapolis.

Competing for the University of Indianapolis in the Scott Fangman Invitational, hosted by the Greyhounds, Lambert’s best throw in the shot put was 11.56 meters and best throw in the weight throw was 13.9 meters.
