
Nearly 400 teams will chase four Indiana High School Athletic Association baseball state championships beginning May 28.
On Sunday, the IHSAA announced the sectional pairings for the Baseball State Tournament that culminates with state championship games on June 20-21 at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis.
Class 3A, Sectional 28
A pair of top 10-ranked teams are at the New Palestine Sectional.
In the opener, Class 3A, No. 5 New Palestine (12-2) kicks off the 7-team bracket against Rushville (2-8). The winner advances to meet Indian Creek (8-5) in the semifinal round.
Shelbyville (8-6) drew Class 3A, No. 6 Indianapolis Roncalli (14-3) in a quarterfinal round contest. The winner advances to face either Greenwood (4-10) or Beech Grove (4-11) in the semifinals.
The New Palestine Sectional champion will take on the Cascade Sectional champion in a regional championship game on June 7 at a yet to be determined site.
Class 2A, Sectional 43
The only two teams with double-digit wins will meet in the sectional opener at Heritage Christian.
Triton Central (10-4) opens the 6-team bracket against Irvington Prep (11-3).
In the other quarterfinal game, Indianapolis Scecina (6-9) takes on Christel House (0-3-1).
The winner of those two games will meet in the semifinal round.
The other semifinal game is already set. The host Eagles (8-4), ranked No. 11 in Class 2A, takes on Eastern Hancock (2-7-1).
The Heritage Christian Sectional champion meets the Winchester Sectional champion in a regional championship game on June 7.
Class 2A, No. 9 Hagerstown and Class 2A, No. 10 Shenandoah are in the Winchester Sectional.
Class A, Sectional 59
The 8-team sectional returns to Morristown High School and features the state’s top ranked team.
Class A, No. 1 Knightstown (9-2) is in the opening game against Waldron (4-7).
Edinburgh (3-11) battles Morristown (2-8) in the second quarterfinal game.
Tri (0-9-1) drew South Decatur (3-5) in the first game in the bottom half of the bracket.
Southwestern (4-4) closes out the quarterfinal round against North Decatur (6-5).
The Morristown Sectional champion battles the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional champion in a regional championship game on June 7. Class A, No. 4 Hauser is in the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional.
