William E. “Bill” Restall Jr., 99, of Shelbyville

William E. “Bill” Restall Jr., 99, of Shelbyville, passed away on August 16, 2025, at Timber Creek Village in Shelbyville.

He was born February 1, 1926, in Ardsley, Pennsylvania, the son of William E. Sr. and Edith F. (Peberdy) Restall. On October 15, 1949, he married the love of his life, Eleanor Read, whom he met on a blind date on New Year’s Eve. She preceded Bill in death on October 5, 2003.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Kathie Molter and husband, Daniel, of Kentland, and Linda Jean Conner and husband, David, of Fountaintown; brother, Walter Restall and wife, Joan, of Lake City, Florida; grandsons, Derek Molter and wife, Katie, Gregory Conner and wife, Kim and Bryan Conner and wife, Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Michael, Samuel and Mallory Molter, Sloane and Sydney Conner, and A. J. and Lily Baker; great-great-grandchildren, Kolten and Amelia Baker; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to Eleanor, Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Bernice Byrne.

He graduated from Abington High School, Abington, Pennsylvania in 1943.

Bill was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he taught Bible study. He also taught Sunday school at the Morristown Methodist Church. Bill loved to study the Bible.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.

Bill formerly worked at RCA TV, as a television repairman; Bell Telephone Laboratory; and retired as the owner and operator of Wood Industries, his tool sharpening business. He was also a hog farmer.

He was a gifted woodworker. Bill enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge and euchre. He also enjoyed playing checkers with his friend, Mike.

Bill was especially proud that his three grandsons each achieved their goals in the fields of law, agriculture and construction.

Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm (EST) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will follow at 1 pm.

Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with military graveside services conducted by the local military committee.
