William “Bill” Joseph Stagge, 79, of Shelbyville

William “Bill” Joseph Stagge, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his residence.

He was born October 7, 1946, in Shelbyville, IN to Ambrose J. Stagge and Mary M. (Beyer) Stagge. 

Bill graduated from Waldron High School with the Class of 1965.  He was employed by Runnebohm Construction for over 34 years before retiring in 2009.  He was one of the original employees for the company.  Bill was also a fireman for Waldron Fire Department for over 48 years.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #766, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 2695 and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.  Bill had a love for attending tractor pulls and helping at local farms.  He was a gun enthusiast and loved the outdoors, especially hunting.  His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his grandkids.  He greatly appreciated his close family and all the care he received from them.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (husband, Dan “Doda”) Edwards; his son, Bill (wife, Vicki) Stagge, Jr.; his daughters, Sandy Huff and Mary Ogden; his son, Jeff Sosbe; his grandchildren, David  (Casey), Amber ( Brent), Josh ( Mandy), Kristy ( Bill), Stephanie, Zack ( Amber), Anna, Derick  (Morgan), Brandyn ( Tiffany), Lindsay ( Rodney), Dezirae, Jordan ( Justin) and Bryce ( Elizabeth); 28 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Bob (wife, Jan) Stagge, Don (wife, Marlene) Stagge and Paul (wife, JoAnn) Stagge; his sister, Mary Ann Stagge; his extended family, Jan and Tom Sosbe and Diana Merrit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Stephen Stagge; his daughter, Susan D. Stagge; his grandsons, Christopher Sosbe and Dustin Welton and his great-grandson, Drew Wainscott.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor James Thurman officiating.

Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by our local veteran organization.  

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Bill’s family.
