Tyler Atkins, age 61, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away on January 15, 2026 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Tyler Atkins, age 61, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away on January 15, 2026 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born June 2, 1964 in Hammond, Indiana to Max E. Atkins and Julie L. Atkins (Myers).
Tyler was a dedicated dental lab technician for more than 35 years and was also a licensed beautician, reflecting both his strong work ethic and creative talents. He was a graduate of Red Hill High School, Class of 1983. Tyler was a passionate advocate for animal rights and anti-bullying efforts, always standing up for those who needed a voice. He enjoyed gardening, creating art, and fishing, finding peace in both nature and creativity. Known for his kind and warm heart, Tyler deeply cared for others and formed many long-lasting friendships throughout his life. He was a devoted supporter and strong advocate for his nieces and nephews, encouraging and standing beside them throughout their lives.
Preceding Tyler in death were his parents, Max and Julie Atkins, as well as a brother, Terry Luthe.
Survivors include two sisters: Vicki (Roy) Pesch of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Venessa Atkins of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one step sister, Lisa Ward of Peoria, Illinois; nieces: Jessica Blodgett, December Atkins, Jennifer Parker, Gwyndylyn Atkins, and Julie Luthe; nephews: Jeremy Routien, Allen Byers and Ian McVaigh as well as several great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Tyler’s name to the Lawrence County Animal Shelter or the Lawrence County Humane Society.
