Robert W. Griffith, Jr., 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at IU Heath Methodist Hospital.
He was born May 10, 1944 in Shelbyville, IN to Robert W. Griffith, Sr. and Edith R. (Henderson) Griffith.
Bob graduated from Shelbyville High School with the Class of 1962. He then attended Ball State University before starting his career at Allison Transmission where he specialized in tool & die casting. He retired from Allison after 30 years of service. After retirement he started working at Big Blue and then Orscheln. He finished his career with McGinn Tooling in Franklin. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville. He was also a lifetime member of American Legion Post 70 and a member of Shelby Shifters Car Club. Bob had a love for cars and an obsession with tools and tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed drag racing and his prized possession was his 1965 Oldsmobile 442 that he bought brand new in 1965 and still owned when he passed. Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a medic with the Indiana National Guard.
He married Judith A. (Boles) Griffith on February 25, 1966, and they shared 59 loving years of marriage and she survives.
He is also survived by his son, Anthony Scott Griffith of Shelbyville; his daughters, Deena Lynn Cheshier of Shelbyville and Regina Griffith of Columbus; his grandchildren, Alahna, Alex, Nick and Jaden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by our local veteran organizations will be announced at a later date.
