Mike Briney, 74, of Rochester, passed away on Sunday, April 05, 2026 at his residence.
On June 30, 1951, Michael Eugene was born in Rochester to Harold Eugene and Norma Jean Zumbaugh Briney. Growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters Joyce and Kim. Proudly he graduated with the Class of 1969 from Rochester High School.
Mike and Barbara E. Sayger were married on September 18, 1976 at the First Christian Church of Rochester. They shared 38 years of life's adventures. Sadly, she passed away on January 1, 2015. From their union came a daughter, Heather. Two more generations have been added to the family tree with the blessings of two grandchildren, Cheyenne and Dakota, and a great grandson, Ryan.
Mike and Barb tended their herd of sows, Durocs and Hampshires, raising baby piglets to fat hogs to be taken to the market. Most recently, he planted and harvested corn and soybeans with his beloved Oliver tractors and with the help of a friend Dean. As an avid gardener, he shared his vegetables with family and friends. He also froze the bountiful supply for future use.
Left to cherish the memories of Mike are his daughter, Heather Briney (Paul Lindsley) of Culver; two grandchildren, Cheyenne Lindsley and Dakota Lindlsey; great grandson Ryan Lee Lindsley; sister, Kim Caudill; brother-in-law Charles Hassenplug; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Mike in death are his parents, wife and sister, Joyce Hassenplug.
A celebration of the life of Michael E. Briney will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester, Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bob Metzger will officiate.
Interment will be in the Richland Center IOOF Cemetery.
