Marian “Sue” Miller, 82, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, went to be with the Lord, Thursday July 23rd, 2026, in her home. She was born on September 29th, 1943, in St. Francisville, Illinois to Marion and Marie (Hensley) Hunt.
She graduated from St Francisville School in 1961. After graduation, Sue waitressed at The Dairy Dee and Henchen’s restaurant both in Lawrenceville.
On August 18th, 1962, she married the love of her life, Larry Norman Miller at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney, Illinois. They shared nearly 28 years of marriage and welcomed two sons, Larry “Darrin” in 1967 followed by James Doyle “J.D.” in 1972. As a family, they enjoyed many vacations together. They could be found attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, fishing in the Wabash River, and vacationing in Florida or boating in Kentucky Lake.
Sue devoted 30 years of her life to Studley’s Rexall on the square in Lawrenceville and later worked at the Lawrenceville Manor and the Walmart Pharmacy. But if she wasn’t at work, she was guaranteed to be found in a lawn chair watching Little League baseball, or any of many sporting events the boys participated in.
Sue enjoyed many things in life, but some of her favorites included riding motorcycles with Larry, playing euchre, dancing, country and 50s-60s music, family cookouts, baking her signature angel food cake with pistachio frosting, and spending time with her church family. Sue was a member of the Wesleyan and St. Francisville Christian churches. She enjoyed attending services and events and fellowshipping with her fellow church family members.
Sue spent nearly 20 years with her companion, James “Jim” Brink, who preceded her in death in 2017. And while he was a Cubs fan, and she was a Cardinals fan, they managed to co-exist.
She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend. Her laugh was contagious and her smile healing. They will bring comfort in days ahead and memories to be shared and cherished to the many who will miss her.
Those who will continue her legacy of faith, family, and love include grandchildren Blayze Miller (Paige Harvey) of Lawrenceville, Jessymn (Darrick) Vondra of Lawrenceville, Amerae (Dalton) Vories, also of Lawrenceville, Jayden, Wade, and Ellie Miller of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Levi and Rikki McCullough of Bridgeport, great-grandchildren Vance Miller, Wrenly and Fia Miller, Graclynn and Beau Blair, Ryan Vondra, and Hadley Vories, sisters Marsha Bunnage of Lawrenceville, Myrna Lewis also of Lawrenceville, and Maggie Hunt of St. Francisville, and her special friends Joy Ann Tredway, Terri Parrott, and Pam Kelly. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Marie Hunt, husband Larry Miller, sons Darrin and J.D. Miller, brothers Marvin Hunt and Mike Hunt, and infant sister Margaret Mae.
A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m.
Memorials can be made to Lawrence County Little League and the ALS Association. As Sue is laid to her eternal rest, Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville will be providing their services, along with Pastor Bruce Wells.
