Lucinda Sue Rudd, 76, of Rochester, passed away at 4:01 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, surrounded by her family at home following an extended illness.
On June 16, 1949, Lucinda was born in Rochester to Harry Ray and Elsie Etta Musselman Rush. Her childhood years were shared with her sister, Carla and brother, Kevin. Sharing nearly sixty years together, Lucinda was joined in marriage to her husband, Roy Gene Rudd, on November 12, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Rochester. Immediately Lucinda joined Roy in North Dakota while he served our country with the United States Air Force. From their union came two handsome sons Troy and Rodney. Over the years, the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
In the early years Lucinda faithfully delivered the Rochester Sentinel and The South Bend Tribune from her Jeep on the motor route. Later as an entrepreneur, Lucinda owned and operated the Candy Barn and later the Family Pantry in Rochester. When she was not hard at work away from home, Lucinda would be found at home planting beautiful mums each year and decorating the seasons – especially Christmas and Halloween.
At home Lucinda enjoyed watching the wildlife that surrounded her home nestled in the woods, on a sprawling 55 acres, like a wildlife sanctuary. Frequent visitors were deer, fox and turkey. She loved feeding the hummingbirds.
Left to cherish Lucinda’s memory are husband, Roy; two sons, Troy and Rodney (Shari) Rudd, all of Rochester; 3 grandchildren: Tyler Rudd, Sierra (Chase) Jones , Kailey Rudd; 2 great-grandchildren, Briar, Oaklynn; and one great-grandson due to arrive next month.
Preceding in death were her parents, Harry and Elsie Musselman Rush; sister, Carla Ringler; and brother, Kevin Rush.
Private family services will be held. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Chaplain Jeremy Losier will officiate.
