David Moss, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at I.U. Methodist Hospital.

He was born December 31, 1944 in Linton, IN. to Clifford C. Moss and Lorena (Bennett) Moss.

He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1964.  David received an associate degree in Architectural Engineering Technology in 1966.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in February 1967.

David’s first job was at Willey’s Retail Grocery, and his second job was Scotlad Foods, then he started at Knauf in 1978 where he retired after 30 years.

David was a member of Town & Country Christian Church and Blue River Lions Club where he was the Lion of the year in 2019.  His life revolved around his family and friends, nothing gave him more joy.

He married Shannon (Alexander) Moss on February 26, 1977 and she survives.

David is also survived by his son, Erick (wife, Rachel); his daughter, Shelley; his grandchildren, Trent (Kaytie Barnes) Moss, Morgan Elizabeth Moss, Justin (wife, Megan) Platt, Marah Piercefield; his great-grandchildren, Ethan Wooten, Benjamin Moss; his siblings, Sharrell (husband, Larry) Adkins, Alan (wife, Cindy) Moss, Bryan (wife, Tammy) Moss; his sister-in-law, Truus Moss, Bonnie (husband, Charles) Oswald, Penny (husband, David) Graham; his brother-in-law, Rick (wife, Lisa) Alexander, Scott (wife, Kelly) Alexander; special friends, Dave (wife, Shirley)  Dotson, Bob (wife, Darlene) Grinstead; he was loved by all his nieces and nephews including his much extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Stephen Moss, William Moss; his niece, Kristen Moss; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Bryant; and special pets, Isabella and Henry.

Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also Saturday, November 18, from 10 a.m to 11 a.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Hirshauer and Rev. Becky Gibbon officiating.

Burial will be in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by Our Local Veteran Organizations.

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve David’s family.
