Charlene McColley, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Waldron Health & Rehab.
Born November 6, 1940 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Ross J. and Ruth L. Benefiel.
She married Myron McColley in 1965 and he preceded her in September of 1988.
Survivors include 2 stepchildren whom she raised- Pamela Fagel of Shelbyville, Kevin McColley (Sheila) of Florida; several step grandchildren, and several step great grandchildren; and 35 nieces and nephews, some of whom are deceased.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, infant son Samuel McColley, stepchildren Lisa McColley, & Timothy McColley; 8 siblings- Eileen Shelton, Doyle Benefiel, Donald Benefiel, Iris Barrier, Wayne Benefiel, Alton Benefiel, Joann Woods, and Lillian Del Ramono.
Mrs. McColley had lived in this area since 1990, after moving from Texas. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1959, and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She owned and operated ABC Beauty Shop in Shelbyville for many years. She also drove a school bus for Triton Schools for several years. She was a member of Shelby Senior Services. Charlene enjoyed camping in earlier years, and working word search puzzles.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
