Carolyn Florence McClure, 87, of Shelby County

Carolyn Florence McClure, 87, of Shelby County, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Indiana Masonic Home Compass Park.

She was born February 15, 1938, in Johnson County, the daughter of Samuel McCarty and Dorotha (Long) Dunham. On October 6, 1962, she married William Dale “Bill” McClure, and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2017.

Carolyn was the 7th of 11 children and is survived by her sisters, Wanda DeVore of Shelbyville, Glenda Cochran of Morristown, Rosie Severson of Madison, Wisconsin, and Linda Purcell of Shelbyville; brother, Donald Dunham and wife, Sandy, of Shelbyville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-niece and  great-nephews.

In addition to Bill, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Juanita Doan and Audrey (Shouse) Barlow; brothers, Vernon Dunham, William “Bill” Dunham and Gene Dunham.

Carolyn retired from Allison Coupons (Cummins) in Indianapolis, with over 35 years of service.

She  was a member of the Morristown Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.  Carolyn was a Past Worthy Matron.

Carolyn enjoyed making crafts.  She loved to quilt and was a member of the Shelby Senior Services quilt group.  Most of all, Carolyn was known as the “Best fudge maker in the world.”

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 am, Monday, August 4, 2025 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.

Funeral services will follow.

Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
