It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Blayde Michael Smith-Hackworth, who left this world far too soon on July 3, 2026, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Born on November 30, 2004, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana, Blayde’s life, though far too brief, was filled with love, laughter, adventure, and countless cherished memories.
Blayde is the beloved son of Michael Walton Hackworth and Sarah Marie Hackworth. He is survived by his wife, Allison Chaney; his sister, Shelbi Caitlyn Smith; his grandparents, Eric and Mary C. Anderson, Walt and Becky Hackworth, and Jimmy and Brenda Smith; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, and his faithful canine companions, Moose and Daisy, all of whom will forever cherish his memory.
Raised in Fairland, Indiana, Blayde was a proud graduate of Triton Central High School. Through determination and hard work, he became a homeowner at a young age in Shelbyville. He was employed as an electrician apprentice with Essence in Indianapolis, where his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others earned the respect of his coworkers.
Outside of work, Blayde embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm. He found joy in riding motorcycles, exploring the muddy trails at Haspin Acres, attending car meets, working on vehicles, spending time at the beach, fishing, listening to music, and making memories with family and friends. He appreciated the simple things in life and lived each day to the fullest.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Blayde knew his smile could light up a room. His infectious laugh, quick sense of humor, generous heart, and larger-than-life personality made everyone feel welcome. He never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for bringing people together. Whether through a joke, a helping hand, or simply his presence, Blayde made a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Blayde was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, John and Bertha Anderson; Sidney and Florine Dixon; Jim Smith; his grandmother, Linda K. Seifert; and by his father-in-law, Jason Chaney.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Blayde’s life during visitation on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, Indiana. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Indiana.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and the staff at Major Hospital for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Blayde’s honor to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Blayde’s love, laughter, kindness, and adventurous spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to share in his life, and he will be deeply missed every single day. His legacy will continue to live on.
