County Police arrested a South Bend man for possession following a traffic stop in the 12,000 block of Michigan Road on September 13th.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., Marshall County Deputy Williams was on routine patrol and stopped a vehicle being driven by 21-year-old Austin Richard Wheeler.
Deputy Williams conducted a traffic stop and, during his investigation, located suspected marijuana.
Wheeler was taken into custody and lodged in the Marshall County Jail for a class B misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. He was held on a $250 cash bond for about 90 minutes until his bond was posted.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
