A Logansport man was taken into custody by Indiana State Police SWAT team members after he allegedly barricaded himself in his home on Wednesday.
According to police reports, the incident first started just before 9 p.m., when a Cass County sheriff's deputy on patrol observed a man he believed to be wanted on a warrant in Carroll County. After seeing the officer, the suspect retreated into a mobile home at 8081 W. 150 South.
Several deputies and other law enforcement agencies responded to the area and established a perimeter around the rural residence. After several failed attempts to make contact with the suspect through loudspeakers and family members, a search warrant was secured and served by the Indiana State Police SWAT team. The suspect, Austin Warren, 32, of rural Logansport, was found in the kitchen area of the residence and taken into custody. It was reported that during the operation and investigation the area had limited traffic access for around seven hours.
Warren was booked at the Carroll County Detention Center on warrants for filing to return to lawful detention and assisting a criminal, both Level 6 felonies.
The incident remains under investigation and any additional charges will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Cass County Sheriff's Office at 574-753-7800.
