Holiday events taking place in Argos, Culver and Bourbon
Before sitting down to your Thanksgiving feast, Argos and Culver encourage people to get out and get moving.
Argos is hosting its 5th annual Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot and Gobble Wobble at 8:30 a.m. in the Argos Community Park. Gather the entire family for the 5K fun run and walk. The entry fee is a non-perishable food item. All items will be donated to the Argos United Methodist Church’s Shepherd’s Food Pantry. The Turkey Trot & Gobble Wobble encourages you to wear your favorite turkey hat or outfit.
The Culver Town Park will host a Turkey Trot and yoga at 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. They are seeking donations for the Culver Food Pantry. The 5K run or 1-mile walk starts at the Beach Lodge. Yoga with Elizabeth begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Beach Lodge. Bring a mat if you have one.
On Friday evening, from 6-8 p.m., join the town of Argos for the Hometown Christmas Cheer at Nickel Plate Square in the center of town. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand with the Grinch for the annual Christmas tree lighting. Attendees can decorate ornaments and cookies. There also will be Christmas caroling, an ice sculpture, family pictures, and hot chocolate, and you can mail your letters to Santa.
Bourbon will light its Christmas tree on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. in the downtown square. After the tree lighting, visit Santa at the fire station and enjoy some refreshments. Additionally, The Church of the Heartland will have cookies and a photo booth, and The Standard will do its Standard by the Lights during this time.
