U.S. 30 traffic pattern to shift near Plymouth starting September 8

Drivers traveling on U.S. 30 between Oak Road and Plymouth-Goshen Trail should prepare for a traffic pattern change beginning on or after Tuesday, September 8, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

INDOT contractor LaPorte Construction Company will shift all traffic to the westbound side of the highway, utilizing crossovers to maintain two-way travel. U.S. 30 will remain reduced to one lane in each direction during this phase of the project.

As part of the traffic shift, the ramp from U.S. 30 eastbound to State Road 17/Michigan Street will be closed. Motorists needing to access State Road 17 will be directed to follow U.S. 30 eastbound to the U.S. 31 interchange, where they can turn around and then access State Road 17.

The construction activities are expected to continue through late November as crews perform bridge deck overlay preventive maintenance at Western Avenue and Baker Ditch.

INDOT is encouraging drivers to allow extra time when traveling through the area and to follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists are urged to slow down, exercise caution, and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
