Two men arrested in separate Plymouth Police incidents

Plymouth Police arrested two men in separate incidents on Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning on charges ranging from drug possession to operating a vehicle without a license.

Wednesday evening, Patrolman Thornton identified an individual walking along Jefferson Street who had an active warrant for his arrest.

The officer made contact with Jonathan Josue Gutierrez-Reyes, 19, of West Jackson Street in Plymouth. During a search, suspected marijuana was located on his person.

Gutierrez-Reyes was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked on the failure to appear warrant and a new charge of possession of marijuana. He was held on a $500 cash bond.

Thursday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m., Plymouth Police responded to a 911 call regarding a male being threatened in his home near Beerenbrook and Jackson streets.

As officers arrived in the area, they encountered Elyin Castillo-Garcia, 26, of Knox, walking southbound on Beerenbrook Street. He told officers that the individual making threats was at work and not in the area, and that he was walking to his vehicle near St. Michael's Catholic Church. He asked officers to follow him.

At the vehicle, officers discovered that Castillo-Garcia had never obtained a driver's license. Officers attempted to stop him from entering the vehicle and advised him of his license status; however, Castillo-Garcia continued to enter and attempt to operate the vehicle.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail, where he was booked for operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license. He was held on a $100 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
