The Sumner City Council met in regular monthly session Tuesday night.
It was the first official council session in the new City Hall on South Christy Street. A formal ribbon cutting and open house for the new civic facility will be announced at a later date. The council did approve one of 2 bids received for the much anticipated over $1 million water line project. The bid was awarded to Kiefer Brothers. Part of the project cost will be covered by a $550,000 grant, but rising costs may force the city to borrow additional money to complete the entire project. The council also approved the annual appropriation ordinance of approximately $1.57 million for the city for Fiscal Years 2024-25. The action was taken after a public hearing prior to the meeting.
