On Friday, February 28th, Treasurer Daniel Elliott hosted a reception to honor local Hoosier artists. Bringing together artists, community leaders, and art enthusiasts, the event celebrated the talent showcased in the Hoosier Artists Across Indiana exhibition. The reception was held by Treasurer Elliott to thank the artists for loaning their artwork to the Treasurer’s office and to allow the public access to appreciate the art pieces one last time before a new exhibition begins.
“The Statehouse belongs to the people of Indiana, and there’s no better way to show our true colors than through the work of our own artists,” said Treasurer Elliott. “I’m truly thankful for the chance to back these incredible folks, giving their artwork a real home to let their creativity shine for everyone who walks through our doors.”
Treasurer Elliott, who not only supports art but also pursues his own creative endeavors in sketching and drawing, shared his genuine appreciation for the contributions of local talent. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to chat with the artists, learn the stories behind each piece, and see firsthand how art enriches Indiana’s cultural identity.
Artists featured in the exhibition are sourced from the Indy Arts Council’s e-newsletter, where opportunities to display artwork are regularly shared.
“We are grateful to the Indy Arts Council for being a supportive channel of communicating opportunities like ours to the art community,” said Treasurer Elliott. “Without its platform, we would not have been able to successfully collect submissions for artwork.”
As part of an ongoing commitment to celebrating and promoting the arts, the Treasurer’s Office is currently welcoming new submissions for the next round of the exhibition.
“We’re always on the lookout for more Hoosier talent,” Elliott added. “If you’ve got a gift for capturing the world on canvas, we’d love to see your work. Every artist adds another thread to the fabric of Indiana’s story.” Selected entries will be announced April 11, 2025.
