A missing person report from Illinois came to a safe conclusion with the help of the Starke County Flock Camera system.
On Sunday, officers were notified of an elderly female who had been reported missing and considered endangered. The individual was last seen driving a red Ford Mustang bearing Illinois license plates.
Using the Flock Camera system, the vehicle was detected traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 421 in Starke County. A short time later, additional camera activity indicated the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 near the Starke County–Marshall County line.
Deputies and the Starke County Dispatch Center continued monitoring the Flock camera system. Subsequent notifications showed the vehicle traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 30 in Marshall County. Deputies then began actively monitoring Highway 30 for the vehicle.
Shortly before 11:00 p.m., a deputy observed a red Ford Mustang with Illinois license plates traveling above the posted speed limit. After confirming the license plate matched the vehicle associated with the missing person report, a traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and State Road 23.
The driver was confirmed to be the missing individual. Emergency Medical Services evaluated the female on scene, and she was transported to Northwest Health – Starke Hospital in Knox for further evaluation.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Oak Lawn, Illinois Police Department, where the original missing person report had been filed. The female was later reunited with her family.
Less than three hours after the initial notification, the missing person was successfully located, due in large part to the assistance of the Flock camera system.
