Authorities have now released the name of the victim killed in a two-vehicle fatal accident Monday evening in Gibson County, Indiana.
29-year-old Jacob Birkla of Mt. Carmel died when his vehicle was struck broadside by a semi-truck at a rural intersection on Indiana State Road 68 near Haubstadt around 8 p.m. CT. He was traveling south on a county road and failed to yield at the intersection. The semi, being driven by 41-year-old Marcia Ajori, of Clarksville, Tennessee hit the Birkla vehicle, pinning him inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Birkla was a 2014 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and earned a bachelor's degree in television and video production from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. He had also work for public broadcasting station WNIN in Evansville.
