A Shelbyville man was arrested after trying to solicit what he thought was a teenage girl for sex.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Department is a member of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
After an investigation was started on October 27,2025, Calvin Hanna, 37, of Shelbyville, was arrested for Child Solicitation as a Level 4 Felony on November 12.
According to law enforcement, the investigation began when Hanna reached out, through Facebook Messenger, to what he believed to be a 13 year old female in Shelbyville. Hanna quickly turned the conversation sexual and began to solicit the child to meet with him and perform various sexual acts. Hanna furthered his exploits into pushing the child to meet with him to have sex after being told on several occasions that he was speaking with a 13 year old. On November 12, Hanna was given an address to come to in Shelbyville to meet with the girl. Hanna was watched by law enforcement and upon arriving at the location, Hanna was taken into custody without incident.
Hanna was remanded to the Shelby County Jail.
This investigation was a combined effort by the Shelby County ICAC, Shelby County Sheriff Department, Shelbyville Police Department, and the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office.
