The Shelbyville Fire Department is proud to recognize Kyson Ash for his courageous actions and quick thinking that helped save a neighbor’s life.
Earlier this year, Kyson got off his school bus in Shelbyville and immediately noticed a neighbor yelling for help. Without hesitation, he took action to activate emergency services, ensuring that first responders were dispatched quickly to the scene. Fire crews arrived to find the neighbor trapped beneath a vehicle. Thanks to Kyson’s calm and decisive response, emergency personnel were able to provide lifesaving assistance in time.
“Kyson’s awareness and immediate decision to help made a real difference,” said Shelbyville Fire Chief Doug Lutes. “In moments like this, every second counts. His actions exemplify courage, community spirit, and the importance of staying calm in an emergency.”
In recognition of his heroic actions, the Shelbyville Fire Department presented Kyson with a Certificate of Heroism during a special ceremony held at Shelbyville Fire Department Station 693.
The department commends Kyson for his bravery.
