The original owners of Pudder’s, a downtown Shelbyville restaurant and bar that closed on Dec. 31, had their application approved Monday night by the Shelbyville Common Council for an alcoholic beverage Riverfront District permit.
Val and Alicia Phares, the owners of St. Paul Tavern, filed for a riverfront district permit under the name Alley Tap, LLC, to sell alcohol at 30 E. Washington St. and 18 Public Square, Suite 200.
Bryan and Kim Rice, who purchased Pudder’s from the Phares family, closed the restaurant and bar at the end of 2024.
Alley Tap has been established to operate the bar areas only in the rear of the restaurant.
There has been no formal announcement as to a new restaurant operator to replace Pudder’s in downtown Shelbyville.
