The 2025 Shelby County Fair Queen will be crowned Sunday at the Wortman Family Civic Theater in Shelbyville.
Ten Shelby County young women will vie for the title. They will be judged on an interview session during the day and professional wear and formal wear events Sunday night at the Shelby County Players’ new facility at 1416 Miller Avenue.
Admission is $5.
In addition, the Little Miss and Little Mister Contest will take place during the pageant. Boys and girls ages 5-7 will compete for the titles.
With the crowning of a new queen, the reign of 2024 Shelby County Fair Queen Karlie Lawson (photo) will come to an end.
“I am definitely going to miss the relationships that I made with so many people across the state,” said Lawson in a radio interview Friday morning with GIANT fm’s Johnny McCrory. “At the State Fair Pageant, I met 83 or 84 other girls from all across the state that I probably would have not met otherwise. I am definitely going to miss those relationships, but I think they are longstanding.”
Lawson competed in the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant in January and produced a top-10 finish.
“That is a really hard thing to accomplish at the state level,” said Shelby County Fair Queen Pageant Director Christa Weaver. “That is every county’s best. We are super proud of her.”
This year's Shelby County Fair Queen contestants are:
- Audrey Berauer of Waldron
- Farah Coen of Boggstown
- Jacklynn Corlett of Waldron
- Alexis DeRolf of Fairland
- Oakleigh Goedde of Morristown
- Ellie Gosser of Flat Rock
- Haddison Johnson of Waldron
- Kendra Loller of Fairland
- Samantha Smith of Boggstown
- Aaliyah White of Shelbyville
A year after her crowning, Lawson provided advice for the 2025 contestants, who will be a visible part of this year’s Shelby County Fair, which runs June 9-14 at the Shelby County Fairgrounds.
“I think the most general advice queens would give you is be yourself or be authentic,” said Lawson, a Shelbyville High School graduate. “Truly what I think matters the most is that you understand what title you are holding and the honor it is to have that title for your county. You get to represent your county at the state level.”
