SCS board approves creation of Educators Hall of Fame

The Shelbyville Central Schools board approved the creation of an Educators Hall of Fame Monday at its monthly meeting.

The first inductee will be former Spanish teacher Jerry Rice. He will be enshrined in September in conjunction with the Alumni Hall of Fame adding two new members.

The goal of the Educators Hall of Fame is to honor “those that made an impact” according to Superintendent Dr. Matt Vance.

A committee will be created to handle nominations for the honor which will have qualifying criteria such as 10 years of service and at least three years removed from working at SCS.

The board has not yet determined a home for the newly-created Hall of Fame.

There is no cap for the number of educators that can be honored yearly.
