Saint Joseph Medical Group has announced the addition of Dr. Blake Hood, DO, to its team of medical professionals in Plymouth. Dr. Hood is a board-eligible general surgeon with advanced training in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
In his new role, Dr. Hood will specialize in the surgical treatment of a variety of conditions, including hernia, gallbladder, hemorrhoid, bowel, colon, reflux, and breast issues. By utilizing minimally invasive and robotic approaches, his treatments are designed to support faster recovery times, reduce patient discomfort, and ensure strong clinical outcomes.
“Dr. Hood brings a strong background in advanced surgical techniques along with a deep commitment to personalized, compassionate care,” said Dr. Leah Napolitano, MD, president of Saint Joseph Medical Group. “His focus on treating the whole person and building trust with patients makes him an excellent addition to our medical group and to the communities we serve.”
Dr. Hood brings extensive training to the region. He completed his general surgery residency with the McLaren General Surgery Consortium in Mount Clemens, Michigan, where he served as co-chief resident. He also completed a general surgery internship at McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, Michigan. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri, and holds a Bachelor of Science in biology, graduating cum laude from Saint Louis University.
Drawn to the area by his love for small-town communities and the outdoors, Dr. Hood and his family have chosen Northwest Indiana as their new home. He emphasizes building meaningful relationships with his patients, striving to ensure that every individual feels heard, informed, and confident in their personalized care plan.
