Last week, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 30, the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, legislation that passed the U.S. House of Representatives Thursday:
“Under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' watch, every community in the country has turned into a border community, with violence on the rise."
"As of July 21, 2024, there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE’s national non-detained docket, and in 2024, over 20,000 illegal aliens were not detained for sexual assault. This is an unacceptable threat to the safety of our citizens and cannot be tolerated."
“H.R. 30 is a vital first step in the process of restoring law and order to our country by strengthening grounds for inadmissibility and removability and addressing domestic violence offenses in immigration law."
Congressman Yakym closed his news release saying, "House Republicans are hitting the ground running to protect our country and secure the border with President Trump's return to the White House just 4 days away. I will always stand up for legislation that makes our country safer and stronger."
