Rep. Jack Jordan: Indiana lawmakers to study child safety, property taxes, and more this summer

State Representative Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) announced this week that the Indiana General Assembly's Legislative Council has assigned study committee topics for the summer and fall of 2026, laying the groundwork for the next legislative session.

Study committees give Indiana legislators the opportunity to research and discuss key issues facing Hoosiers before formal lawmaking begins. This year's assigned topics include child safety, funding sources for childcare, a review of workforce programs, property tax assessments, and additional subjects yet to be fully detailed.

"Legislators will be appointed to serve on these committees in the coming weeks," Jordan said. "Committee members will be charged with reviewing agency reports, listening to testimony from experts and members of the public, and proposing recommendations for the next legislative session."

Appointments to the committees are expected to be announced in the near future. Once finalized, committee hearings and agendas will be made publicly available on the Indiana General Assembly's official website.
