Rare tour of historic Dietrich-Bowen house in Bremen this Sunday

The Marshall County Historical Society is opening the doors of the Dietrich-Bowen House in Bremen for a rare public tour this Sunday, August 16th, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. — and with limited tickets available, those interested are encouraged to reserve their spot today.

The Dietrich-Bowen House is a Queen Anne-style Victorian masterpiece built in 1901 by early Bremen entrepreneur John Dietrich and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. But the home's most notable chapter began in 1953, when a young country doctor, Dr. Otis R. Bowen, purchased the property and used it as both his family residence and his medical office. Dr. Bowen went on to serve two terms as Governor of Indiana before being appointed by President Ronald Reagan as Secretary of Health and Human Services, where he shaped national health policy for millions of Americans.

Current owners Michael and Andreea Cope have completed a meticulous full restoration of the property, honoring its extraordinary legacy while breathing new life into every room. They consider themselves the latest caretakers of a home that belongs, in spirit, to all of Indiana.
