Drivers traveling along South Michigan Street in Plymouth should plan for brief delays through this weekend as railroad crews conduct maintenance work at the railroad viaduct near the intersection of South Michigan Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.

The City of Plymouth was notified at approximately noon on Thursday, July 30th that the work was underway. The project is scheduled to continue through Saturday, August 1st.

Traffic control flaggers are on site to guide motorists safely through the work zone. Delays of up to five minutes are possible for drivers traveling in both the northbound and southbound directions.

City officials are encouraging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when passing through the area. Those who are able to do so are urged to consider using an alternate route to avoid the intersection entirely while work is ongoing.

The temporary traffic control measures are in place to protect both the railroad maintenance crews and the safety of the traveling public.

The delays are expected to be short-lived, with all work scheduled to be completed by the end of the day Saturday.
