A quick response from the Marshall Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding agencies helped save the Parke County Firewood business from extensive damage during an early morning fire this week.
According to assistant fire chief Jason Ryan, units were dispatched to Parke County Firewood in the early morning hours and found a fire at the business.
“The cause was a failure of mechanical equipment, not electrical due to being Amish,” Ryan told The Parke County Post.
The fire was contained to the klin area.
“It was stopped from spreading to the warehouse and office area. There were no issues,” Ryan said, adding firefighters were on the scene for roughly three hours.
In addition to Marshall, Bloomingdale Fire, Bellmore Fire, Bridgeton Fire, Montezuma Fire, Kingman Fire, Wallace Fire, Clinton City Fire, Helt Fire, Waveland Fire, Parke County EMS, and Parke County Sheriff’s Department all responded.
The Marshall Volunteer Fire Department posted a thank you to the many that aided them covering this incident: "We want to give a great big THANK YOU to everyone that assisted us on a commercial structure fire this early morning at Parke County Firewood. Thank You Bloomingdale Fire, Bellmore Fire, Bridgeton Fire, Montezuma Fire, Kingman Fire, Wallace Fire, Clinton City Fire, Helt Fire, Waveland Fire, Parke County EMS, Parke County Sheriff's Department and Parke County Dispatch!!
