Putnam County man sentenced to 35 years for child sex crimes

A Putnam County man learned his fate Thursday, as Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley sentenced Casey Grayson to 35 years following a recent conviction for sexual misconduct with a minor and possession of child pornography. 

Grayson, 41, was accused earlier this year of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl among other sex-related crimes. He was charged with two counts of Level 4 felony sexual misconduct with a minor, one count of Level 6 felony sexual misconduct with a minor, and 10 counts of Level 6 felony possession of child pornography. 

He was arrested Dec. 23, 2024 following an investigation by the Indiana State Police, after receiving a tip that a minor had been touched inappropriately by an adult male. The victim told her mother what had transpired, according to court documents. 

An investigation found that Grayson pulled the victim onto his lap, reached under her shirt and touched her breasts. He then unbuttoned her pants, and pulled them and underwear off the victim. He then allegedly used a pair of sex toys on the minor. 

According to court documents, Grayson possessed about 4,000 child pornography images on his phone. 

Headley will serve 33 years in the Department of Corrections and two years on home detention. 

"The successful prosecution of this case would not have been possible without the professional work of all law enforcement involved and the inspiring bravery of the victim," Putnam County Prosecutor Austin Malayer said.
